A Moment In Civil Rights (James Meredith)
Today, in 1966, James Meredith, the first black student to enroll at The University of Mississippi , was shot by sniper during his solo march he dubbed “Walk Against Fear” to influence black voters. His campaign was to follow a walk from Memphis, Tennessee to Jackson, Mississippi. Meredith survived the attack and met with his supporters in Jackson once he recovered.
The event would develop the BLACK POWER Movement.
